Manchester United’s hierarchy is unhappy with the club’s start to the 2026/2027 season. After five Premier League matches, the club have five points and sit 12th in the table.

Conte is understood to be at the top of the shortlist being considered by Manchester United’s owners and senior executives.

The Italian has managed Juventus, Inter, Napoli, Chelsea and the Italy national team during his career. He won the Premier League with Chelsea and claimed the Italian title with both Napoli and Inter.

Conte also led Juventus to the Serie A championship twice.
