Inter Milan have signed striker Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United for a club-record fee of £74m on a five-year deal.

The Belgian international forward says the Serie A side were the only club he wanted to join this summer.

He becomes the third most expensive signing by an Italian club after the Juventus duo of Cristiano Ronaldo (£99.2m) and Gonzalo Higuain (£75.3m).

Lukaku, 26, scored 42 goals in 96 games for United, who have recouped most of the £75m they paid to Everton for his services in 2017.

The forward says he wants to help Inter back to the top of Italian football.

"Inter were the only club I wanted," said Lukaku. "I'm here to bring the Nerazzurri back to the top."

Lukaku scored 15 goals in 45 games for United last season but was often overlooked in favour of England striker Marcus Rashford after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had succeeded Jose Mourinho.

He leaves the Premier League after eight seasons in England, having also played for Chelsea, West Brom, and the Toffees, with Manchester United wishing him well on his way.

"Everybody would like to thank Romelu for his efforts at the club and pass on our best wishes for the future," said the Red Devils in a statement.

Lukaku is 14/1 to finish as leading scorer in Serie A this season, with Ronaldo priced at 13/8. Inter meanwhile are 5/1 to win the Scudetto for the first time since 2009/10.
