The win also kept Liverpool without a loss in league play this campaign, having garnered 58 out a possible 60 points. With a game in hand, Liverpool lead Leicester City by 13 points and defending champions Manchester City by 14.

The Blades remain in eighth place with 29 points after the loss.

Liverpool wasted little time getting on the scoresheet with Mohamed Salah's fourth-minute tap-in off Andy Robertson's serve from Virgil van Dijk's long ball.

The hosts' second came in the 64th minute when Salah weaved a throughball to Sadio Mane into the six-yard box. Mane's initial attempt was saved by Dean Henderson but the Senegalese star pounced on the rebound for the goal.
