West African Football Academy goalkeeper Felix Annan says his decision to leave Asante Kotoko has helped save his career.
The former Ghana U20 star is enjoying regular first team action again on his return to his mother club on loan from the Ghanaian champions.
Annan struggled for playing time at Kotoko – dropping down the perking order to the likes of Isaac Amoako, Joseph Addo and Eric Ofori Antwi.
His relative inactive club career then stifled his progress as a rising goalkeeper.
The youngster who was once on the radar of Belgian side Club Brugge is now happy to be returning to his best form at WAFA and says the decision to leave Kotoko – albeit temporal for now – has been a massive help.
“It has really been a blessing to me because as a young boy all I want to do is to play football,” he said.
“That is what I love to do. It is not about money or anything, but it is about the passion I have for football.
“For the first two years at Asante Kotoko, I was monitoring the senior players so I could learn something from them.
“During the third and fourth year, I was not getting the chance to play many matches and I got frustrated.
“So it was a kind of blessing for my coach John Killa to give me a call to ask if I would like to come back.
“Clearly, it has helped me to exhibit what is in me and what I do best. Now people are getting to know what I’m capable of doing.
“I thank God and I really thank John Killa for the chance he gave me.’’
