Miroslav Klose was forced to pull out of the race to become Fortuna Dusseldorf head coach because of a diagnosis of two blood clots in his leg: “The diagnosis was a shock to me,” he said talking to Kicker. “Doctors made it clear that this is not a situation to be trifled with. For the time being they prescribed almost total rest – no jogging, no swimming but above all no playing football", Klose said.

“Unfortunately I have to take this short break now but then I will attack like I always have, to become a coach and be able to inspire a team", the German added.

Fortuna Dusseldorf appointed Christian Preusser as their new head coach earlier today, replacing the previous coach Uwe Rosler.
