The Media Officer of Nigeria’s Olympic National Team, Timi Ebikagboro, has confirmed that Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo will not be suiting up for the Samson Siasia-led side at the 2016 Olympic Games.

News broke that the central defender was considered for the competition by the technical crew but gave a negative response when contacted regarding his availability.

“Kenneth Omeruo pulled out of the Rio Olympics U-23 due to doctors’ advice, he wanted to play but was advised not to risk his career,” Ebikagboro stated.
