Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has called for patience in the wake of the team’s shocking defeat to Senegal in their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations opener on Monday, saying they must look ahead to Friday’s game against Algeria with high hopes.
The Black Stars will take on the Desert Foxes hoping to rebound in style after a difficult start.
They lost 2-1 to Senegal at the Municipal stadium in Mongomo to quench the hopes of Ghanaian fans but the Lorient attacker is urging for calm and patience.
“We are disappointed of course. We really wanted to start this tournament with a victory but, unfortunately, it’s been a surprise late in the game. This is football,” he said.
It is clear that it was a defeat that hurts, but this is not the end of the world. No, I do not believe that it is a physical problem. We tried to maintain our advantage but, unfortunately, we did not achieve the ultimate.
“I think it is important now to forget this match and now think about the next game against Algeria. We have a young group and a team that is under construction. This is somewhat normal. You must be patient with us.”
