Andy Burnham urges caution over Manchester City financial rules case

Andy Burnham, the British prime minister and former mayor of Greater Manchester, has called for the proceedings into Manchester City’s alleged Financial Fair Play breaches to be conducted with complete independence.

A Premier League independent commission ruled at the end of September that Manchester City were responsible for numerous breaches of the league’s financial regulations. Burnham said conclusions should not be reached prematurely while the case continues.

Manchester City will play their first match since the news emerged on Sunday, 11 October, when they face Liverpool.
