Under-fire Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Seidu Mutawakilu says he is least bothered by negative comments and is focused on improving his game.
The highly rated young goalkeeper failed to live up to the hype and ultimately had to be replaced in post by Michael Sae for the epic semi-final clash against Nigeria which the Satellites lost 2-1.
Mutawakilu’s jittery performance played a key part in the team’s failure to reach the final with critics going as far as calling for him to be dropped for the world cup in New Zealand later this year.
But the 19 year old says he is least bothered by negative comments and is focused solely on improving on his game.
“My performance in the competition over all was not bad at all because I qualified the team to the world cup,” Mutawakilu told Accra based Citi FM
“Yes I made mistakes but it’s part of the game and we learn everyday to make things better.
“There are a lot of comments but as for me I am not affected by them the only thing I know how to do is goalkeeping and so it’s my aim to continue developing all the time.”
Mutawakilu is set to return to Hearts of Oak training on Tuesday after a prolonged vacation period due to his participation in the Africa Youth Championship.
