Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan will be flown into Mongomo on Monday afternoon to take an MRI test to ascertain the severity of his latest injury.
The prolific striker is suspected to have suffered a groin injury after he was stamped in his manhood area in the 3-0 win over Guinea on Sunday.
Gyan is now racing against time to regain full fitness for the semi final clash of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations against hosts Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie has confirmed a flight is being arranged for the Al Ain ace to travel to Mongomo where the nearest MRI facility exists for him to undergo further tests.
“Asamoah Gyan is already receiving treatment from Mariana [Kovacevic] – the Serbian therapist – and doctor Baba [Adamu],” he said.
“There is no MRI machine here in Malabo, the nearest is in Mongomo so we are arranging for a flight to take him [Gyan] to Mongomo to take the test.
“We hope the results come clean and treatment goes well for our captain to play in the semi final match.”
Gyan had played the entire tournament without being fully fit.
He suffered an unspecified illness moments after arriving with the Black Stars team to Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 AFCON.
He sat out the Ghana’s opening game of the tournament against Senegal but has since played every minute of the team’s campaign in Equatorial Guinea.
