Peru head coach Ricardo Greca is confident that his side can reach the Copa America final after defeating Uruguay on penalties in the last-eight.

Saturday evening's clash in Salvador ended goalless after 90 minutes and, with no extra-time in the tournament until the semi-final stage, the tie went straight to penalties.

And, after Barcelona striker Luis Suarez saw his spot-kick saved by goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, Edinson Flores scored to seal a 5-4 shoot-out victory.

We are going to face a great team but I believe in our players and our capabilities.

Ricardo Greca

Greca admitted that his side were not at their best as Uruguay had 12 shots on target during the game and had three goals disallowed for offside.

He said: "It was a difficult game against a very strong opponent. We know that we can play a lot better and that's the objective in the next match."

Reigning champions Chile, who eliminated Colombia 5-4 on penalties following a goalless 90 minutes on Friday, are up next in Porto Alegre on Wednesday and Greca believes that Peru can progress to face either hosts Brazil or Argentina in next Sunday's final at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

"We are going to face a great team but I believe in our players and our capabilities," he told reporters. "Whether or not it's enough, I don't know. We know that we are strong, regardless of our opponents."

Peru, who are 10/1 to win the Copa America, are priced at 10/3 to win their semi-final tie, while Chile are 19/20 with the draw at 90 minutes 21/10.
