The Al Ain has been training but not fully-fit to play 90 minutes of football.

His injury was key to Ghana's cancellation of a final pre-Nations Cup friendly scheduled for today (Wednesday) at their camping base in Seville, Spain.

A Ghana FA statement read: “The precautionary decision comes in the wake of the knock suffered by captain Asamoah Gyan during training.

“With some few days before the start of the competition in Equatorial Guinea, Grant has decided to protect his players from likely injuries.”

Gyan will be making his Nations Cup appearance in Equatorial Guinea where two years ago, a semi-final penalty miss against eventual winners Zambia led to massive verbal abuse on social media which pushed to take a temporary break from international football.

Two other players Frank Acheampong and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu also suffered knocks in training and are not 100% fit.

Ghana depart for their tournament camp base, Mongomo, on Wednesday ahead of their Group C opener against Senegal on 19 January.
