Ghana’s assistant coach Maxwell Konadu insists his side is firmly focused on the semi final clash against Equatorial Guinea and not being distracted by the thought of winning the 2015 AFCON.
The Black Stars are just two steps away from ending their over three-decade wait of winning the African Cup this term.
The team however have to first content with the might of hosts Equatorial Guinea on Thursday to book a place in Sunday’s grand finale to be played in Bata.
Ghanaian players however run the risk of getting distracted with the thought of already being in the finals since they are overwhelming favourites for the finals.
But Maxwell Konadu has dismissed fears of such distractions by saying the side is solely focusing on their game against Equatorial Guinea.
“At this stage, to be frank with you, we are not thinking about cups,” he said.
“Where we are right now we just have to think about Equatorial Guinea and that is what is on our mind.
“I have had a lot of calls and messages from home about we bringing the cup and I tell them listen, if you think about the cup and maybe you will be home before the finals is played.
“My boss [Avram Grant] was also telling me that we just don’t have to think about cups right now.
“We are thinking about Equatorial Guinea and that is what is on our minds are the moment.”
