Ghana coach Avram Grant says he made the right choice to camp in Seville, Spain where the weather is cold ahead of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

There have been concerns about the chosen base for the Black Stars when the temperature in Mongomo will be high during the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

But Grant insists his choice will condition the players better for the tough matches against Senegal, Algeria and South Africa.

“I chose Spain because we need to train and we need to train well. Few of the players are playing but many of the players have not been playing for about one or two months and some didn't even play a long time,” Avram explained before the team’s departure on Sunday night.

“We need a good weather to train and in Spain some of the players can train twice a day. It is not cold or warm there and we are moving to the place five days before, normally in tournaments like this you travel two days before.

“When it is hot you move to cool place and when it is cold you move to hot place so it will help the team.”

Grant will train for ten days in Seville before touching down at their tournament camping base two days before the opening ceremony.

The Israeli has two days to settle on his final 23-man squad for the tournament.
