FIFA U20 World Cup: Massive boost for Ghana as playmaker Clifford Aboagye declared fit for Mali clash
Influential midfielder Clifford Aboagye has been declared fit for Ghana’s crucial Round of 16 clash against Mali at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup.
The 20-year-old picked up a muscle strain in the 1-0 win over Panama last Friday.
The injury threatened to keep the Granada youngster out of contention for the Round of 16 clash against Mali on Wednesday.
But the influential midfielder has since returned to training with the Black Satellites and has now been declared fit for the game.
“Clifford Aboagye has returned to training and he is fully fit an available for selection to the coach,” Ghana U20 team doctor Prince Pambo told Happy FM.
“I want to allay any injury fears and assure Ghanaians that he [Aboagye] is fit for Wednesday’s match.
“We as medical team do not determine who gets picked for games. Our duty is limited to ensuring that players are fit and available for selection.
“And I can confirm that Clifford Aboagye is fit and available for selection.”
Aboagye’s return to full fitness is a massive boost for the Ghana U20 team who have benefited immensely from the quality of the creative midfielder.
