Abdullahi Mansur, the Coach of the Nigeria Women U-20 team has disclosed the team's goal ahead of the U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Abdullahi is optimistic the Falconets will cross the final hurdle which has eluded them twice.
"This is not the first time that a Nigerian women's team has achieved something significant at the World Cup. The Falconets secured a silver medal in Germany in 2010. Our aim now is to surpass that achievement," Abdullahi stated.
"For the Under-17 team, winning a medal for the first time is a remarkable milestone, and it's a good foundation to build upon."
According to Abdullahi preparations begin in July and are determined to win the trophy.
"The NFF leadership understands the importance of early camping and preparations. The World Cup is scheduled for October, and we plan to start our camp next month, giving us ample time to prepare," he said.
"Our goal is clear: to go beyond the record of the 2010 World Cup and bring home the trophy from Colombia."
"We are determined to go to Colombia and win the trophy. With the right preparation and support, we believe that we can achieve this goal by the special grace of God." he concluded.
Nigeria’s women U-20 team, the Falconets, will face former champions, Germany, Venezuela and South Korea in Group D at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia from August 31 to September 22.
