EXCLUSIVE: Rashid Sumaila confirms Sundowns recall, set to return to South Africa over the weekend
By Rahman Osman
On loan Asante Kotoko Kotoko defender Rashid Sumaila has confirmed to GHANASoccernet.com that he will return to South Africa this weekend after he was recalled by his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 23 year old defender was left out of Sundowns squad after failing to secure a reported move to Turkey.
He played 22 games for the Brazilians last season as they won the Absa Premier League for the first time in seven years.
Sumaila returned to Kotoko to gain playing time but has since endured a frustrating time due to the delay in start of the Ghana Premier League.
“Sundowns have sent a mail to Kotoko to release me as they want me back as soon as possible,” Sumaila told Ghana’s leading football website GHANASoccernet.com
“I will return to Kumasi to pack and try to get back as soon as possible.
“All I want to do now is get back to playing football that is the only thing in my mind.”
Sundowns are second on the Premier Soccer League table with 31 points from 17 games.
