Esperance defender Harrison Afful hails Confederation Cup tie against Hearts as dream come true
Esperance defender Harrison Afful says it is a dream come true to be facing Hearts of Oak in the Confederation Cup.
The Tunisian giants have been drawn to face the Phobians in the final qualifying stage of Africa’s second tier competition after failing to make it to the group stage of the Champions League.
The tie sees the Ghanaian defender return to play the side he often faced during his time in the Ghana Premier League.
And the left-back says he is delighted with the draw – describing the clash as a dream come true.
“This is the game I have been waiting for some time now,” he said.
“When I saw the draw I was very happy with it.
“I have been looking to play against Hearts all this while in Africa but it never happened so I am very glad it is happening now.”
Esperance will host Hearts in the first leg of the tie on the weekend of May 15-17.
The tie is a rematch of the 2000 CAF Champions League final where the Ghanaian giants reigned supreme.
