EFL: Akpom's goal not enough to avoid defeat for Middleborough

British-Nigeria player, Chuba Akpom was on the score sheet for his English Football League side, Middleborough as they fell to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Akpom scored in the fifth game running, but couldn't stop his side from being at the losing end as they lost 4-2 at the John Smith's Stadium.

Boro had led following a Marcus Forss goal two minutes to the end of the first half, but Josh Ruffels equalled score for the home team 20 seconds into the second half.

Josh Koroma put Town ahead eight minutes later while Matty Pearson made it 3-1 in the 57th minute.

Pearson put the match beyond the reach of Boro as he score the fourth goal nine minutes later.

Akpom scored his 25th goal of the season in 32 matches in the 74th minute with a beautiful header, but it only turned out to be a consolation as Huddersfield Town earned a vital win.

The win helps Town to go four points from the bottom two with 39 points while Middleborough remain third with 67 points.
