FC Sion’s promising Ghanaian striker Ebenezer Assifuah insists he is on course for the season despite spending four months on the sidelines due to injury last year.

The 21-year-old suffered a tendon problem which restricted him to four matches before the winter break.

Assifuah is expected to explode in Europe after winning the top scorer award at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.

Last season, he scored 7 goals in 24 matches in the Swiss Super League and was expected to better than this term but that look impossible due to the setback.

However, the former Liberty Professionals player is not throwing is hands up in despair.

“It was hard for me last year but I am still strong and I know I can achieve my target for the season,” Assifuah told Africanfootball.com

“I need know there is so pressure for me to be a top striker and I’m capable for doing. Hopefully by the end of the season, the statistics will be high.”

He trained with the Ghana squad in Accra but could not make the final squad to the just ended 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
