NFF has upped their full court press on Fifa hoping that the governing body will approve their friendly against the RSA.
In as much as Nigeria is already scheduled to face both Mali and Luxembourg in the month of May the NFF bigwigs are hoping to secure another game in preparation for the Russia WCup play offs.
Fifa seemingly is not impressed and feel that a third game during this window is ill timed as it will be “an unfair way” for the Eagles to improve their dismal FIFA rank. The NFF meanwhile is countering with the fact that the Super Eagles team to face the South Africans will be watered down and feature only players from the NPFL - something they would not do if it was all about winning at all cost and securing a better rank..
The NFF is also confident that the game will take place and are already discussing a venue which include Kaduna, Port Harcourt and the possible return of international football to Lagos as per an anonymous source withing the federation.
