Eagles caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf has said he believes Odion Ighalo's goal against Luxembourg will boost his confidence after a rather trying time for the Watford striker.
The 26-year-old Ighalo has shone in the English Premier League but his goal, against the Red Lions of Luxembourg was only his third goal for Nigeria with his last being against Cameroon in a friendly last year October.
Critics have already said he has failed to translate club form for country.
But coach Yusuf said he believes it was crucial for the striker's self confidence to get on the scoresheet for the Eagles again.
"The goal (vs Luxembourg) will do a world of good for the confidence of Ighalo," Yusuf said.
"It has been a bit difficult for him in front of goal of late, and a goal for a player, a striker for that matter, can do wonders for your self-belief."
