The chartered accountant is in court in an attempt to retrieve an amount of GH?537,247.000 claimed to be a loan handed the Ghanaian giants during his three-year reign as chairman.

There are however fears that the ongoing court case could dig up all sort of dirt against both parties with Kotoko touted to be the biggest loser in the tussle.

A group led by veteran football administrator Nana Fitz have initiated moves to have an amicable out of court settlement through mediation.

A formal request has been sent to the court hearing the case for the mediation to take effect.

But Dr. Sarpong has rejected mediation talks until Asante Kotoko admits it is in debt of the amount being contested in the court.

“We acknowledge receipt of your letter with thanks. Unfortunately, defendant [Asante Kotoko] has not shifted its position of outright denial of the claim against it to narrow any discussion to the time frame for payment of its debt,” legal representative of Dr. Sarpong, Agyabeng Akrasi responded to the mediation proposal.

“Our client prefers that subject to the defendant’s admission of its lawful debt, any settlement or otherwise be arrived at in court.”

Asante Kotoko have also insisted they are ready to face Dr. Sarpong head-on in court over the contested issue.
