Came into the league full of energy, Doma United failed to replicate their first stanza form last season as they dropped to the Nigeria National League after finishing in the bottom four in their second season in the topflight, Nigriasoccernet.com writes.
The Savannah Tigers in their first season narrowly missed out of the the Super Six playoff in Lagos after losing to Abia Warriors on the final matchday. The team continued its impressive form from the abridged league season during the 202324 season going 13 games unbeaten, topping the league table on a couple of occasions.
However, things went sour for the team at the start of the second stanza, winning just a game in over 12 league fixtures, a feat that put them in the drop zone before eventually relegating to the NNL with 3 other clubs.
This has led to some of the players leaving the club and has thus forced the club to make a major decision as they prepare for life in the lower division.
"Doma United Football Club wishes to announce the dissolution of all current Management, Technical Crew, and Backroom Staff. This decision is part of our ongoing commitment to reposition the club toward achieving our objectives," the club announce on its official page.
"The club is actively working behind the scenes to appoint a new Management Team, Technical Crew, and Backroom Staff who share our vision and are fully aligned with the club’s goals. We are committed to ensuring that the new team will bring fresh energy and expertise as we strive to return to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season.
"Training for the upcoming season will officially resume on the 24th of August, 2024. The club will reach out to retained players from last season to communicate their status within the squad. Additionally, the club will focus on recruiting only top-quality players who meet our high standards and fit into our long-term plans," the club wrote.
"Please note that screening for potential new players will be conducted strictly by invitation. We urge interested players to await further communication from the club. Our objective remains clear: to return to the NPFL and restore Doma United FC to its rightful place in Nigerian football," added by the club.
With strong preparation and proper recruitment, Doma United should make a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League at the end of the 2024/25 NNL season.
