Cruz Azul has reached the LigaMX final for a second year in a row, after they beat Pachuca 1-0 in the second leg of the semifinal, after both teams had drawn 0-0 in the first leg.

Cruz Azul were the better side during the first half, dominating possession even though they were not able to finalize it in a score; Jonathan Rodriguez came closest when he hit the post right at the end of the half. Pachuca gave a timid reaction at the beginning of the second half through a Victor Guzman shot that forced Jesus Corona to make a spectacular save and maintain the score tied at nil nil. It was just the prelude to the Cruz Azul score that would decide the match in the 54th minute. Santiago Gimenez capitalized a Luis Romo cross with a diving header that left the Pachuca goalkeeper no chance.

From then on Pachuca became more desperate as the minutes went by trying to find an equalizing goal, but eventually their desperation and nervousness got the better of them when Pachuca defender Cabral commited a bad foul on Jonathan Rodriguez and trhe ref showed him a straight red. All was to no avail however, as Cruz Azul would hold on tfor the slim victory that brings them to the final once more.
