Chelsea have agreed to Como’s proposal for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, with the 28-year-old set to join the Italian club on loan until the end of the current season.
The terms of the deal have already been settled between the two clubs, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. Sanchez will continue his career in Italy after losing his place in Chelsea’s starting line-up.
His move to Como comes after Argentina international Emiliano Martinez recently joined the London club. Martinez has taken over as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper, leaving Sanchez facing a spell away from the Premier League side.
Sanchez remains under contract with Chelsea until the middle of 2030. His current estimated transfer value is €22m, according to Transfermarkt, although the agreement with Como is for a loan rather than a permanent transfer.
The move gives Sanchez the opportunity to play in Serie A during the current campaign, while Como will add an experienced goalkeeper to their squad after securing a significant achievement last season.
Como finished fourth in Serie A last season, a result that saw the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time in its history. Their progress has now helped attract a Chelsea player who had been displaced from the starting line-up following Martinez’s arrival.
Sanchez will therefore leave Chelsea temporarily, with his long-term future still tied to the club through his contract, which runs until mid-2030. For the immediate future, however, his next stage will be in Italy with Como.
