Nigeria's Taiwo Awoniyi  was on sung in the Carabao Cup when English Premier League side, Nottingham Forest traded tackle with English Championship side, Blackburn Rovers, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

He contributed to the 1-4 thrashing of Blackburn Rovers against by Nottingham Forest at the Ewood Park Stadium on Wednesday night.

In the 79th minute, from a lightning quick counter attack, Jesse Lingard played a ball through for Taiwo Awoniyi who shruged off a home defender to score Forest's third of the night.

The tie had remained one all in the first half after Brennan Johnson put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot, but Blackburn equalised shortly before half-time through Scott Wharton.

The Premiership side got on the ascendency in the second half to blow the home side away and progress to the quarter finals of the competition.

Jesse Lingard's deflected free-kick restored Forest's advantage before a Taiwo Awoniyi strike made it three.

Johnson scored a second late on to complete an impressive display for Forest.

Awoniyi played for 82 minutes in the encounter.

They play Manchester United on Tuesday, the 27th of December at Old Trafford by 9pm.
