CAF organizes communication workshop in bid to tell African football stories better

In bid to preserve and tell beautiful stories concerning the memorable aspects of African football around the globe, African football governing body CAF has organized the first of it's kind communication workshop among it's member associations, Nigeriasocccernet.com reports.

The CAF Communications Workshop which was held in Cairo, Egypt emphasized the crucial role of Member Associations and Zonal Unions in effectively communicating the growth of African football.

Over 30 representatives from member associations including Nigeria gathered for a two-day workshop focused on crafting compelling narratives about the continent's football journey. The event centered around the theme "Your Story Matters," highlighting the importance of showcasing African football's successes on a global stage.

CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba emphasized the need for Africa to adopt global communication best practices during the opening remarks of a recent communications workshop. He cited the successful communication strategy employed during the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON as a prime example.

"Our communication department excelled at the Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 thanks to our exceptional team," Mosengo-Omba said. "The football landscape is constantly evolving, and so are communication demands. CAF is committed to staying ahead of the curve."

CAF's Luxolo September highlighted the organization's progress in reshaping the narrative of African football through strategic communication. He pointed to the CAF Future Media Officers program, which has produced graduates working at the Olympics and upcoming FIFA events, as a testament to CAF's commitment to developing talent. September also praised the all-female communication team at the Women's AFCON in Morocco as a groundbreaking achievement.

"We've made significant strides, but there's still room for growth," September said. "Collaborating with our Member Associations is key to achieving our full potential."

The in-depth workshop, held at the Cairo International Stadium, focused on key areas including developing effective communication strategies, mastering modern media relations, leveraging digital platforms, and ensuring adherence to CAF Media Operational guidelines.
