Union Berlin are close to reaching an agreement with 2. Bundesliga side Werder Bremen for the transfer of Austrian defender Marco Friedl, according to Bild.
The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal but would like to leave Bremen before Tuesday’s deadline to play Bundesliga football this season.
Per the report, Union will pay a fee of around €6m to sign Friedl.

After their relegation to 2.Bundesliga, Werder Bremen are looking to trim down the costs of their squad and willing to let Friedl go to keep their financial status floating.
