BOWFT: Edo Queens, FC Robo, Remo Stars Ladies to renew rivalry

Reigning Champions of Betsy Obaseki Woman Football Tournament BOWFT, Edo Queens FC will begin quest for podium finish as the 4th edition of the BOWFT, pre- season fiesta kicks -off today in Benin (BOWFT) with a matchday 1 clash against one of NWFL giant FC Robo of Lagos at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City with kickoff time at 4 pm.

The BOWFT draws ceremony which was held on Sunday night at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City pitched the ancient city-based WAFU-B Champions together with another NWFL Stubborn side, Remo Stars Ladies of Ogun State in Group A, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

NWFL current Champions Edo Queens were seeded with the other three teams based on their sensational performances at the 2023/ 2024 NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state. The other seeded teams are Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Heartland Queens FC.

After today's clash against the Emmanuel Osahon-led side FC Robo, the Godwin Obaseki Queens will lock horns with Mathew Wemimo-led Remo Stars Ladies from Ikenne Ogun State in their last group game.

Group A, was described by women football pundits as a group of death but as defending champions, Edo Queens are in top form ready to give their best and progress to the next stage.

The host Club Edo Queens FC has always participated in every edition of this Pre-season showdown and has given good records since inception its four years ago.

They are also using this competition as a build-up ground for the CAF Women's Champions League continental showpiece coming up tentatively in November 2024.

Participating teams are: Edo Queens, FC Robo, Bayelsa Queens, Brave Hearts, Heartland Queens, Fortress Ladies, Naija Ratels, and Espoir FC, Delta Babes, Aigle Royal FC, Remo Stars Ladies, Espoir FC de Cotonou, Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens and Abia Angels.
