Nigeria international Victor Boniface has expressed his delight after making a scoring return to the pitch for Bayer Leverkusen following a two-month injury layoff, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Boniface, 24, sustained a thigh injury while on international duty in November, but marked his comeback with a goal in Leverkusen's match against TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday.
The striker opened the scoring in the 15th minute, helping Die Werkself to a confidence-boosting victory.
"I feel happy, I feel great," Boniface told the club's official website. "It has been a long time since I've been out, so to be back and playing games is really good for me.
"It feels good to score, not just as a striker but in general, as a team to score an early goal against a top team like this. It really helps build confidence."
Boniface has now scored seven goals in 11 league appearances for Leverkusen this season.
