Heroes Queens finally ended their goal drought in the 2024/25 NWFL Championship, thanks to a brilliant goal from Flamingos invitee Bolarinwa Aishat against First Mahi Babes, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
After three games and 12 conceded goals, the Championship debutants had been struggling to find the net. Aishat's goal provided a much-needed boost for the young team, who celebrated the breakthrough with enthusiasm.
“I’m so happy to score for my team because it’s been a hard time for us in this competition, not the best of outing we would have wished for and it’s so painful”, a delighted Aishat Bolarinwa admitted.
Bolarinwa Aishat's goal broke Heroes Queens' goal drought, but it wasn't enough to secure a victory. The striker skillfully evaded her defender and fired a low shot into the right corner of the net, beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
Despite the significance of the goal for Aishat and her teammates, Heroes Queens ultimately fell 3-1 to First Mahi Babes.
Bolarinwa Aishat expressed her excitement about her inclusion in the national team, stating, "I'm so happy. I have never thought this opportunity would come for me at this time."
The young player's dream of representing her country has become a reality, and she is eager to contribute to the team's success.
“I would be joining up with the team after this competition and beyond what and how I have been able to perform here, I want to go there and do more, fight for my place in the team because it’s so competitive over there and you can’t afford to lose your footing”.
“Now, I want to score more goals in this competition”, she said.
