Ex-Hearts coach Mohammed Polo claims the club’s supporters must shoulder the blame for the side’s downward spiral in the Ghanaian top-flight this season.

The club legend claims needless attacks from supporters have contributed greatly to their dwindling fortunes.

He feels coaches are not given enough time and space to operate, putting unnecessary pressure on them to discharge their duties.

The former Ghana international alleged some supporters conspired against him during his short tenure at the club and says those faceless individuals must swallow their recent disappointments.

“The problem of Hearts of Oak is the supporters to a large extent. Some of them conspired against me hoping that my exit will bring good omen,” he fumed on Accra-based Oman FM

“But today look at the club. It’s very sad and I’m very sad. They know themselves, referring to the alleged saboteurs.

“Nothing will change if the supporters don’t change their behaviour. It takes time for things to change.

“I was in the process but they never gave me the chance and said so many negative things against me to club president Togbe Afede.

“Togbe is a good man who honestly wants to transform the club but the supporters won’t allow him.”

Polo was sacked by the club sixth months into his contract under acrimonious circumstances.

Hearts lie at a poorly 12th position on the league table after losing 2-1 at home to New Edubiase on Wednesday.

The defeat has sent tongues wagging amid fears they could crash in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup.

They host AS Police of Benin on Sunday at the Accra Sports stadium.
