The Catalan club are targeting the 25-year-old Brazilian as a possible signing, with sporting director Deco reported to have begun discussions with the player’s representative.

The proposed transfer could be worth 45m euros.

Nathan has made nine appearances for Real Betis in all competitions this season and has scored one goal. His current contract with the Spanish club runs until 2030.

The defender is valued at 30m euros by Transfermarkt, meaning Barcelona could face a fee above his estimated market value if the deal progresses.

Any move would form part of Barcelona’s wider plans for their squad, although previous reports have claimed that Deco and manager Hansi Flick have been unable to agree on the club’s transfer targets.
