Chelsea target Abdul Baba Rahman would prefer to move to London rather than Rome, according to the Mirror.
The 20-year-old had a terrific campaign with the Bundesliga’s surprise package Augsburg last season and has attracted interest from across the continent including Roma as a result.
However, the Ghana international’s preference is to move to London making the Blues favourites for his signature.
There had been concerns that the full-back would snub a move to Chelsea over concerns about playing time after having seen friend and international team-mate Christian Atsu repeatedly loaned out by the club.
But it is now understood he wants to move to London, putting Jose Mourinho’s side back in the driving seat regarding the signing.
Chelsea are keen to sign a replacement for Atletico bound Filipe Luis, who is set to leave the Premier League champions after making just 15 Premier League appearances last season.
Rahman would be an interesting prospect for Mourinho’s team, as he excelled defensively last season winning 59% of his overall duels including 77 aerial battles and 91 tackles – the most of any defender in the Bundesliga last season.
Baba Rahman won the third most duels among defenders in the Bundesliga last season.
The speedy defender also showed his ability to contribute going forward, completing 44 take-ons and chipping in with four assists demonstrating that he would be a more than adequate replacement for Luis.
