Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has praised Avram Grant for giving the Black Stars the strength and psychological edge at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana’s wait for that elusive 5th Nations Cup trophy continues after a dramatic 9-8 penalty shootout defeat to the Ivory Coast in the final.
The Black Stars were underdogs going into the game but were unlucky to have won the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.
“We played well in my opinion and we improved after every game which should be a positive for us all,” the on-loan midfielder told GHANASoccernet.com.
“We believed in the coach and he believed in us so I think he deserves lots of credit for our performance throughout the competition.”
Despite the positives of reaching the final, the defeat meant the Black Stars had lost three of the finals they had been to since their triumph in Libya 33 years ago.
“I think that we haven’t been lucky in the last three finals we have played in and to win you sometimes need that little bit of luck that has deserted us,” he added.
“We have been close but I am confident that very soon we will be champions of Africa.”
