The Black Stars crumbled to a painful 2-1 defeat the Terranga Lions in group C opener in Mongomo on Monday.

The Ghanaians took an early lead in the first half but failed to hold onto the lead after crumbling to incessant pressure from the Alain Giresse men.

The former Chelsea coach admits the defeat has made matter worse for his team.

“Yes, the loss makes it difficult for us, but all is not lost. We still have two matches to play and we will immediately focus on those games, but why we could not match up to the pace of the Senegalese, I can't explain, but no doubt our opponents used their physical strength very well to their advantage," he said.

The Black Stars must now negotiate their qualification to the next stage with wins over Algeria and South Africa.
