In a winner-takes-all clash, Australia went on the offensive from the start and their hard work was rewarded as early as the 19th minute when midfielder Fabian Monge found the back of the net.

DPR Korea, who had beaten Hong Kong 5-1 in their opening match, tried to find their way back into the game but Australia kept a firm hold.

Ufuk Talay's players widened their lead in the 26th minute, thanks to striker Moudi Najjar (pictured above) and at half time, DPR Korea were facing a huge task.

Any hopes Ri Chol's team had of a comeback were dashed almost immediately after play resumed as Ramy Najjarine made it 3-0 in favour of Australia.

DPR Korea gave themselves some hope when Kim Hwi-hwang scored in the 67th minute but there was to be no more goals for them.

Instead, skipper Denis Genreau (pictured above) made it 4-1 in favour of Australia with an effort in added-on time.
