Asante Kotoko could face expulsion from Ghana Premier League for failing to submit audited accounts
Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko could be expelled from the Ghana Premier League for failing to submit any audited accounts to the Ghana FA before the start of the season.
The key requirement for the renewal of a team's license to enable it to play in the next season has been flouted, according to the publication by Graphic Sports, which must result in their expulsion from the league.
According to a Graphic Sports publication, Kotoko flouted Article 8 clause 2 of the Ghana Football Association rules by not meeting the deadline.
It reads: “All premier league clubs shall submit audited accounts and documents on incorporation of clubs as companies either limited by shares or guarantees to the Association. The audited accounts for the year preceding the just ended league season shall be submitted before the commencement of the new league season.”
According to the FA rules, every premiership club is to submit its audited accounts with the FA before the commencement of each season.
Failure of which is punishable by deduction of points from the accumulated points of matches played by the offending club.
But the Ghana FA can only take action if a third party protests.
