Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is focused on ending Ghana’s 33-year run without an African title when they take on Ivory Coast on Sunday in the final.
The Black Stars have twice come close to winning a first title since 1982 but were left disappointed.
In Senegal 1992, they suffered an 11-10 penalty shoot-out loss to the same Ivory Coast side and then a slim 1-0 reverse to Egypt at the 2010 finals in Angola.
There is huge responsibility on the current crop of Black Stars players to banish their hoodoo and Wakaso who has been ever impressive for the Stars is focused on winning the trophy.
“We have worked hard to reach here and we will have to keep our focus,” Wakaso said.
“We have an opportunity to make our nation proud after a long wait and that is exactly what we will be doing.
“For me it’s another game and we will have fight like we have done in the past.”
