Head Coach of Congo, Claude Le Roy was furious on Wednesday when his team arrived in Equatorial Guinea only to face challenges over accommodation in Bata.
The French man disclosed that seven members of the 35-man delegation did not have rooms at the Hotel allocated in Bata. “It is unbelievable, unacceptable. I have never seen anything like that in the eight Afcons. We don’t know where some of them will sleep,” a furious Le Roy.
Congo are meant to play the opening match against hosts Equatorial Guinea at the Estadio de Bata on Saturday. The other teams in Group A include Gabon and Burkina Faso.
There have been some concerns about accommodation in the small country that will be flooded by teams and fans who will be eager to cheer their teams when the event takes place January 17 to February 8th.
“There are some fans and we don’t know where they are going to settle. It was the hotel rejected by Hervé Renard three years ago when he was with Zambia at the Afcon. But other hotels were requisitioned by CAF as they won’t accept to stay in this kind of place. It is catastrophic,” added Le Roy.
