The Black Stars will pocket a staggering $ 30,000 if they are able to qualify from the group stages of the ongoing Africa cup of nations.
The issue of how much the Black Stars earn has become public interest with many Ghanaians always waiting to wade into the debate of if the amount paid is prudent or a wild waste of scares resources.
Government had made a flat rate proposal of $ 5,000 appearance fee for each game in the AFCON competition which the players rejected but vice chairman of the Black Stars management committee Kudjoe Fianoo says they have agreed a treaty to pay each player $30,000 as qualification from the group stages.
“That decision to pay all players $10,000 each has been reversed. Now what we are going to do is that when they progress past the group stage, then they will be paid a qualification bonus for the next round but this one is not going to attract any monies,” Mr. Fianoo told Accra based Happy FM
The Stars lost 2-1 to Senegal and now face an uphill task of qualifying from the group with tough games against Algeria and South Africa yet to come.
