2017 AFCON qualifiers: Ghana players return for second day of training ahead of Mauritius match-up

Ghana players will return for their second day of training on Friday afternoon in preparation for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius next week.

The Black Stars opened camp on Thursday ahead of their first competitive game since losing the Afcon 2015 final in February.

Captain Asamoah Gyan led several players in their first training held at the JMG Academy in the outskirts of Accra.

As Africa begins the long road of qualification series to determine 15 other teams to join hosts Gabon for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, coach Avram Grant and his Ghana side on Thursday, kicked off preparations for the opening qualifier at the Jean Marc Guilliou Academy - a newly secured location on the outskirts of Accra.

A full house bar defender Harrison Afful is expected on Friday as a few of the 23 invited players for the opening assignment at home to Mauritius on June 14 missed the opening session of the non-residential camping.

Afful has been excused to complete club assignment with Esperance who face Hearts of Oak in the Caf Confederation Cup in Accra on Saturday. According to sources, the Black Stars team plan to attend the game.

The Black Stars are scheduled to move preparations to the Accra Stadium on Sunday before playing a test game the following day - Monday, June 8.

The game will be against beleaguered Emmanuel Adebayor’s Togo team under new coach Tom Saintfiet has been scheduled for the Accra Stadium at 3:30pm GMT (5:30pm CAT). The Hawks are also preparing to host Liberia in the qualifiers.

Ghana who are also joined by Rwanda and Mozambique in Group H will first host Mauritius in Accra on June 14.
