Former Nigeria Super goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has clarified rumours the about his potential appointment as part of the backroom staff for the Nigerian national team ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The former Enyimba Football Club goalkeeper sparked off insinuations of him joining the squad in the AFCON after his post on Instagram.

Enyeama posted "Let's go. See you in camp. Time for business" which brought about various reports of his addition to the background staff of the Super Eagles for the African Football showpiece.

However, the former international has stated he has not been employed by the Nigeria Football Federation as he only meant he will visit the team when he attends the tournament.

“I haven’t been given any appointment by the NFF, neither was there any such discussion. That was only a personal comment, meaning I will visit them in camp when I attend the AFCON.

“Any opportunity to encourage the lads, I use it,” Enyeama said as quoted by popular journalist Mighty George via his X handle.

The NFF has also stated that the news about Enyeama's appointment is false.
