Former Super Falcons invitee, Evelyn Ijeh has revealed her surprise at being called up to the senior Sweden squad, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Evelyn, the daughter of former Super Eagles striker, Peter Ijeh had played for the Sweden 17 and 19 teams before she was invited by Coach Randy Waldrum a warm up tournament in 2021 in Australia.

After failing to make the 23-woman squad list of the Super Falcons, she was once again invited to the Sweden U23 for the coming matches against Belgium and Norway in October last year respectively.

Subsequently, she was called to the Women's team of Sweden this January and the invitation took the the 21-year-old aback.

"Being called up came like a surprise, but I was really happy and excited for getting the opportunity"

She speaks of her possibility of being a mainstay in the first eleven of the team in a short while.

"Breaking into the senior team won’t be easy, however If the opportunity is given I will surely take it."

Evelyn tells of the difference of playing in Sweden and Nigeria.

"I would say there are more skilled individual players and the tempo is obviously higher."
