The Ghana Football Association (GFA) insists AC Milan ace Sulley Muntari did not send a letter of apology to the federation this week seeking to lift the indefinite suspension slapped on him for his physical attack on a management member.

The GFA says the midfielder's apology will be accepted if he send the missive to express his contrition for his attack on Moses Armah during the World Cup in Brazil one year ago.

Journalists in the country were sent on a wild goose chase when news emerged that Muntari had sent a letter of apology but all the communications channels within the GFA denied receiving any letter from the AC Milan star with someone claiming to be his brother sending the letter.

Despite these denial of the arrival of the letter a section of the media have persisted with the report even though there is no evidence of the letter being sent.

A local website even interview former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars winger, Reverend Osei Kofi who said the GFA’s action of rejecting the letter sent by Muntari was not the best.

The GFA insists Muntari has not sent any letter of apology insisting that the AC Milan midfielder know the exact channel of sending the letter as he has done previously following his past suspensions.

"We want repeat for the 1000th time that we did not receive any letter from Muntari or his representative or representatives this week over his suspension. We have done several interviews on this yet a section of the media persists with the news without any evidence," Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara told Hot FM.

"We are ready to receive the letter of apology any time he sends it even by email. But as we speak now no one has sent a letter on his behalf. To persist with this report without any evidence would lead to misleading the public.

"The player knows the channel of communicating with the GFA too well as he has been in a similar situation in the past so sending the letter should not be a problem at all. Until such a time that he sends the letter it remains a suspicious news report."

A man claiming to have been sent by Muntari to deliver the letter told a radio station that he was unable to deliver the letter because he could locate the Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie.

Yet Muntari deliver his previous letter of apology to the GFA general secretary or National Teams Director Alex Asante who deal with issues like this.
