"?Southampton ace Sam McQueen is hoping to make the most of the Saints' injury problems and enjoy his full debut for the club against Inter Milan.

Claude Puel's side will take on the Italian outfit at the San Siro in Europa League competition on Thursday. And McQueen, who absolutely impressed against Burnley on the weekend, could make his first start.

The 21-year-old winger was thrown on as a left-back after Matt Targett limped off during Southampton's 3-1 win against Burnley on Sunday.

Puel has been unlucky with full-backs this season, and has had to deal with Ryan Bertrand, Cedric Soares and Jeremy Pied all getting injured. McQueen is now hoping that the new boss trusts him enough to hand him a start against Milan.

"I hope I can play at the San Siro," he said, via the "?Daily Star. "I will do everything in the next few days to get ready for it and show I should be playing.

"It's been years and years of hard work to get to this stage. It's my movie moment to come on at St Mary's and make my debut.

"The thing is, it's over so quickly and by tomorrow I'll want to play again.

"I just want to get onto the next game and before I know it hopefully I'll be playing regularly or far into my career.

"It's not nice to see team-mates get injured. I do feel for Matty, but he was really good with me. He came off encouraging me and saying all the best.

"I'm not happy that he's injured, but he's going to be happy that I'm playing."?

Puel, Meanwhile, has been left fascinated with the youngster's performance.

"For the left back, Sam can play today and we can see good things for his part,"? he said to the "?Daily Echo after the match against Burnley.

"He played a good game also and has quality and the succession of this many games is difficult to play just with Cuco (Martina) and Sam.

"It is a new play for him but he can take confidence for the future and many good things for this player."?
