Sadiq Umar got his Rio Olympics off to the best possible start as he scored in Nigeria’s defeat of Japan on Thursday.

Though the Games only officially began with Friday evening’s opening ceremony, the football tournament had got underway a day earlier.

Sadiq grabbed the opening goal in a thrilling game, which Nigeria eventually won 5-4.

Nigeria are in Group B alongside Sweden, Colombia and Japan. They will be back in action on Sunday 8 August at 18:00 local time, as they take on Sweden at the Arena da Amazonia in Manaus.
