The Nigeria Super Falcons lost to Mexico in their first match in the Revelation Cup tournament in the early hours of Thursday at the Leon Stadium, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigeria women's football team lost by a goal to nil courtesy of a late goal in the second goal by Kiana Palacios of Mexico.

After a cagey start to the game, Lizabeth Ovalle missed a sitter with the best chance of the half to have given the host the lead in the 34th minute.

The first half ended goalless, but with a causualty for the Falcons as Rofiat Imuran was stretched out due to injury in the 45th minute. Glory Ogbonna was brought on to replace her.

The Substitute got into the Referee's book just two minute after her entry. Two minute later, goalkeeper, Nnadozie denied Anika Rodriguez from scoring, keeping the score line goalless.

By the second half, the Nigerian remained efficient against a Mexican side who edged it in terms of performance.

Coach Randy Waldrum made some changes to see if there could be improvement in the score line of the game, but the score remained the same.

In the 85th minute, the deadlock was broken as Palacios put the host ahead to make the pressure count.

The Falcons couldn't not get the equaliser as they fell to their six consecutive defeats and will seek to change the narrative when they play Colombia on Saturday.
