Nigeria's top striker, Victor Osimhen was on the score sheet once as Napoli defeated Empoli in the Italian Serie A on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Osimhen scored in the 29th minute to double the lead at the Stadio Carlo Castellani after the Naples scored in the 17th minute through an own goal.

The former Lille man scored after a shot from Kvaratskhelia was tapped in by the striker who was at the right place at the right time.

The goal is the 8th consecutive league goal and 19th league goal and 21 total goals in all competitions.

Osimhen is the first player to score in 8 straight Serie A games since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2019/2020.

No Napoli player has scored more Série A goals in a season than Victor Osimhen’s 19 since Dries Mertens bagged 28 in 2016-17.

Napoli made it eight league wins in a row to establish an 18 point gap lead on the league summit.
